OLLI Presentation

Past event
Feb 19, 2020, 1:30 to 2:30 PM

This week's OLLI talk will welcome Bess O'Brien, well-known documentary filmmaker from the Northeast Kingdom. Bess will use clips from her films to illustrate and talk about how telling stories and raising the voices of those who are often unheard helps to create dialogue around important issues. Bess is currently producing The Listen Up Project—an original musical based on the lives of Vermont teens that will be touring the state in 2020. O'Brien's last film was Coming Home, a documentary film focused on five people returning to their Vermont communities from prison. Other films by O'Brien include All of Me, a film on body image and eating disorders, and The Hungry Heart, about the prescription drug crisis in Vermont and the compassionate work of Dr. Fred Holmes.
