Aurora Middle School will present its spring play on Wednesday, April 16 at 6:30 pm at the Memorial Baptist Church on South Pleasant Street in Middlebury. Over the Border is an original drama written by the students. It is an exploration of immigration and the experiences of migrant workers who come from Mexico to Vermont. It is inspired by a year-long study of immigration that included reading works of nonfiction, realistic fiction and short stories, as well as talking with local migrant workers and watching documentaries. Local playwright Dana Yeaton worked with the students early on in the process, widening their definition of what a play can be. The backdrop was created in conjunction with local artist Kate Gridley. The music was written with local musician Dan Sobel. All are welcome to attend. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person.
