This is a public hearing for the community to learn about the NEK Community Broadband communications union district (CUD). The goal of the CUD is to bring affordable and reliable high speed internet to every E911 address in the NEK. The town of Kirby, along with 26 other towns in the Northeast Kingdom, will have an opportunity to vote to join the CUD on town meeting day 2020. In Kirby, currently only 10% of households have access to a high-speed internet option (25/3 mbps), and 62% are considered underserved with 3/1 mbps or less. This is a chance for Kirby residents to have a seat at the table as critical regional infrastructure is designed and built.
