Nepal has an absolutely wonderful tradition of sarangi and vocals. The sarangi is the violin of Nepal and it is the enchanting voice of Nepali folk and popular music. One of the world's renowned sarangi masters, Shyam Nepali, will play a concert of songs and melodies this Friday, 6pm at the Burlington Violin Shop on Church Street. In our neighborhood we are starting an apprenticeship program to introduce young musicians to the sarangi and this concert helps support that effort.
