First Congregational Church (UCC) of Burlington Vermont invites you to join in a very special celebration this Saturday – come and meet our new minister!
All are invited to a "Service of Installation" - on Saturday, February 8 at 2 p.m. (in the "First Church" Sanctuary at 38 South Winooski Avenue in Burlington) that will celebrate the new Vermont ministry of the Rev. Elissa Johnk. An award winning preacher, Fulbright Scholar, graduate of Harvard Seminary, social justice advocate, teacher, wife, mother of an infant - a dog lover who raises chickens – the Rev. Elissa Johnk brings intellect and humor, and a faithfulness that is both ancient and contemporary, to the pulpit each Sunday. The Rev. Martin Copenhaver (who led First Congregational Church in the 1980's) will preach at the Installation which will include leadership from our Youth, Children's and Sanctuary Choirs – as well as soloist Doris Ogden, and instrumentalists playing trumpet, saxophone, guitar and djembe. The Installation will be followed by a festive reception with delicious food for all. All ages are welcome – our Nursery/Toddler Room will be open and staffed.
