Plenty of local folks have never visited Rokeby Museum. Why not change that this February? In honor of Black History Month, Rokeby will be open Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. This is your chance to visit the museum's award-winning, multimedia exhibit Free & Safe: the Underground Railroad in Vermont. Learn about Ferrisburgh neighbors who, in the 1830s, were part of a national network assisting fugitives from slavery. See Amassed and Up-ended, a special exhibit that introduces visitors to the four generations of the Robinson family who lived at Rokeby for close to 200 years. They were farmers, writers, artists, members of local government... in short, people just like us. It's their unique 19th century experience that gets us thinking about our own, and if you're anything like me, you'll find their lives inspiring for our own times. On Feb 9, 16 and 23 we have programs planned for adults, children, and teens. See www.rokeby.org for details. Isn't it high time you checked us out?
