Here's some information about a "World Premiere" for some of my Putney School students. Please support them by attending if you can.
"To Live" - Short Films by four Chinese students: Shangyou Li, Xiuyuan Chen, Shixue Shao and Zirui Liu are students at The Putney School. In 2018, these teens established ET8 Studio at The Putney School out of a shared passion for cinematic art and an ambition to reshape the Western world's images of China. "After coming to the US, we found that even in the era of the internet, the Western and Eastern Worlds still hold numerous biased and inaccurate perceptions toward each other. As international students and new generation artists, we feel obliged to address this problem and bridge this gap. Our current mission is to present Chinese culture, values, and social issues through the form of film, from which audiences around the globe can appreciate the beauty of China and understand the challenges it faces." ET8 Studio films have won awards, including First Place in the 2019 Vermont Freedom and Unity Film Contest and named Official Selection of the Indie short Festival and the Wasteland Film Festival.
7 p.m. Film showings. Conversation after the screenings (5 short films – mostly 2 – 4 minutes, with a 13 minute documentary), and the filmmakers will have merchandise for sale. $8 suggested donation. Latchis Theatre, 50 Main Street. Information: latchisarts.org
