A highly prized homemade pecan pie generally sparks a fierce round of competitive bidding at the annual Friends of the Aldrich Public Library's Winter Banquet/ Auction. The Friends are planning even more excitement for this year's event, scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 5:30 pm at the Barre Elks Lodge, on Jefferson St. behind the library.
Tickets are now on sale at the library's circulation desk for the Friends' banquet/auction at $30 per person. Anyone who buys a ticket before Friday, February 22, will be entered into a raffle to win a $25 gift certificate from the Quarry Kitchen and Spirits. The evening will include hors d'oeuvres made by the Friends, a delicious beef tenderloin dinner prepared by Elks' chef Mike Marinelli and staff, and dessert donated by Ben & Jerry's. There will be a cash bar and plenty of time to socialize, bid on silent auction items, and view special items slated for the live auction.
Popular local auctioneer David Sanguinetti will again lead this year's live auction which features tickets to a concert at the Barre Opera House, art by local artists, donations from area merchants, gift certificates to restaurants, and – of course – a homemade pecan pie. A growing list of silent and live auction items can soon be found on the library's website www.aldrichpublicibrary.org. For more information or to reserve your tickets, call or visit the library at 476-7550.
