“How to Fix a Jail” - Prison Reform

The Vermont prison system has been under scrutiny and in the news recently and leaders with interest in changing the prison culture are coming together to address the topic in a public forum. The event, "How to Fix a Jail" is sponsored by VTDigger, ACLU Vermont and the University of Vermont College of Arts and Sciences.

Where: Sugar Maple Ballroom, Dudley H. Davis Center at UVM, Burlington

The keynote address will be from Janos Marton, a nationally recognized advocate for criminal justice reform. The event will feature a panel discussion moderated by VTDigger's Anne Galloway and Alan Keays. The panelists include Ashley Messier of the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls; James Baker, Interim Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Corrections; Kathy Fox, Professor and Associate Dean, UVM; and Sarah George, Chittenden County State's Attorney.
