Your Charlotte Tree Warden will hold a public hearing on February 12, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Charlotte Town Hall to consider the proposed preemptive removal of ash trees within the public rights-of-way on Ferry Road between Greenbush Road and Wings Point Road and on Greenbush Road 0.6 miles south of Orchard Road and south of the railroad underpass before the entrance to the park. This is part of the town's Emerald Ash Borer Preparedness Plan which seeks to proactively address the problem of the anticipated death of 99.7% of ash trees. Targeted, preemptive removal will minimize eventual costs to the town and ensure safe and uninterrupted use of town roads and public spaces. Affected landowners may request that downed timber be left on their property for their use. Absent such a request in writing, the trees will be removed. In addition, in lieu of removal, affected landowners have the option of committing to the preservation of "keeper" trees though chemical treatments undertaken at the landowner's expense. Prior to the hearing questions or comments may be sent via FPF in response to this notice, or you can call me at my work at 383-0476 x1.
