Wind Energy Forum sponsored by the Conservation Commission

The Conservation Commission in Starksboro is bringing three individuals with experience in various aspects of wind energy together in a community forum. John Miller, a Starksboro resident, is the director of engineering at All Earth Renewables. Nirmegh Legget, also from Starksboro, has researched the effects of ridge-top wind on wildlife. Mark Whitworth is the executive director of Energize Vermont, a non-profit who's mission advocates "appropriately scaled" energy solutions.
Our aim is to explore wind power from a community perspective. Can it "fit" within the community of Starksboro? What is the wind energy potential? What are the risks? As citizens, what can we do to promote desirable wind energy and resist undesirable projects?
We'll hear brief presentations from these speakers, review the pertinent sections of our current town plan, and hopefully, leave with a better idea of how we can prepare our community for the future we'd like to see.
