Stage 32 is proud to present their winter musical, "Avenue Q School Edition," on Thursday and Friday, January 30 & 31 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, February 1 at 2 and 7 p.m.. Ave Q is a show with puppets (and humans) behaving badly! There is no doubt about that. They argue, shout, sing, and laugh about things that are rude, insensitive, and full of implicit bias. The residents of Avenue Q are trying to find purpose and meaning in a scary and confusing world, and along the way, they are frequently raw, offensive, and insulting. The personalities of Avenue Q - people, puppets, and monsters - are exaggerated characters from everyday life, living in the extremes in order to discover moments of clarity.
For all of its spoof and satire, Avenue Q School Edition is a musical about real life. Princeton, Kate, Rod, Nicky, Brian, Christmas Eve, Trekkie, and all the rest learn how to be upstanders: individuals who stand up against racism, classism, sexism, and homophobia. These characters allow their world views to be challenged, learn from their mistakes, and are able to recognize that their individual ambitions mean nothing without community.
Please note that this show is rated Q and contains mature content. Tickets are available at the door or you can reserve your tickets by e-mail at sverchereau@u32.org or by calling Sue Verchereau at 229-0321 x5561, adults are $12, students and seniors are $10.
