Last summer my son went on a Putney Student Travel community service trip to Vietnam, https://goputney.com/programs/student-travel-in-vietnam/. He spent 4 weeks in a small village on the central coast of Vietnam building houses and doing other community service projects. While there, he studied Vietnamese history and culture.
