Vermont Commons School is pleased to present to the broader community a free screening of “The House I Live In” and a panel discussion with film participants and area leaders on Wednesday, April 9, 2013 at 6 pm at the Vermont Commons School at 75 Green Mountain Drive in South Burlington. The film and panel discussion illustrates the war on drugs and its broad-reaching effect, which supports the Vermont Common mission of “Engaging Students with the World.” This broad topic is relevant to students, families, and community members.

The “House I Live In," a documentary by Vermont Filmmaker Eugene Jarecki, won the Sundance U.S. Documentary Grand Jury Prize in 2012, and is touted as “SEARING! One of the most important pieces of nonfiction to hit the screen in years” by Forbes and “A potent cry for a drastic rethinking of America’s War on Drugs, Eugene Jarecki’s "The House I Live In"… should connect solidly with viewers at a moment when it seems possible to change public attitudes” by Variety.
This special community event could not be timelier, taking place in the midst of the critical discussion about the heroin epidemic in Vermont. The panel discussion after the movie screening will include film participants and expert speakers from both sides of this complex issue.
