Music - Cabin Fever

Past event
Jan 18, 2020, 8 to 9 PM

Classical musicians Cynthia Huard, piano, Katie Oprea, oboe and Betsy LeBlanc, clarinet, (the Heliand Consort), will be presenting "Kindred Spirits: The Letters and Music of Brahms and the Schumanns," on Saturday, January 18th at 8:00 pm. (This is the 1st of 4 concerts in the 2020 Cabin Fever Series). This special program explores the fascinating, intriguing and complex story of the friendship and love triangle among Robert Schumann, Clara Wieck-Schumann and Johannes Brahms through their chamber music (each being a composer and performer), and their letters to each other, read by actors Jim Stapleton and Diana Bigelow. The depth and intimacy of the connection among these three great musical minds of the Romantic Era and the influence they exercised on each other, yielded profound and enduring gifts. Their story is tragic, epic, uplifting and a testament to the utmost breadth and range of creative forces and of the human spirit.
