CMS Musical: The Phantom Tollbooth, Jr.

Past event
Apr 3 to 4, 2014

Colchester Middle School students have been hard at work singing, learning lines and choreography, creating props and scenery for this year’s performance of The Phantom Tollbooth, Jr.

The musical will be performed on two nights only: Thursday and Friday, April 3 and 4 at 7:00 pm in the Colchester High School theatre. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors. The performance is expected to last about an hour and a half.

Based on the book by Norton Juster, the musical follows Milo (played by 8th grader Ethan Goedken), a young boy who finds nothing around him interesting. Everything changes for Milo one day when a mysterious tollbooth appears in his room asking where he’d like to go. Begrudgingly, he takes off and travels through many lands. Milo finds that the rulers of numbers (Digitopolis) and words (Dictionopolis) can’t agree on anything, and have locked up their princess sisters in a castle in the air. Upon meeting his new friend Tock, the watchdog (played by 7th grader Cameron Shepherd), Milo races to rescue the princesses, while avoiding demons trying to distract him along the way. When he arrives back home, Milo soon realizes there are so many exciting things to do in his own world. This show is sure to be fun for the whole family!

More than 50 CMS students are involved on and off stage in the production.
