Although Vermont is consistently ranked as one of the healthiest states, it remains a challenge to ensure that all Vermonters have access to quality, affordable health care.
"The Promise and Challenge of Healthcare Reform in Vermont" will be the topic of an upcoming panel discussion hosted by the Stowe Democratic Town Committee.
When: 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2020
Where: Memorial Hall in the Akeley Memorial Building (Town Hall) at 67 Main Street.
Who: Speakers will be Ena Backus, Director of Health Care Reform in the Agency of Human Services at the State of Vermont; Rep. Brian Cina, P/D-Burlington, who serves on the House Committee on Health Care; and Sara Teachout, Director of Government, Public and Media Relations at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont.
Backus and Teachout will discuss current healthcare challenges and opportunities in Vermont.
Cina is among 48 state representatives co-sponsoring a bill in state Legislature which calls for a universal primary care system to be in place by 2023. Cina will discuss the bill.
Refreshments will be served at the event, which is free and open to the public.
