The Second Saturday contra and square dance continues on Saturday, January 11 at 7:30 p.m. at 777 Main Street, Williamstown, MA in the Williamstown Community Preschool—formerly the Methodist Church—at the corner of Route 2 and Route 43.
Been wanting to give it a try? The first dance of the year is for you.
In a special outreach to newcomers, Paul Rosenberg will call plenty of simple dances appropriate for novices and families, especially in the first half of the evening.Three local musicians known across New England will perform contemporary and traditional contra reels and jigs and a few surprises, as Todd Reynolds (violinist for Bang on a Can) joins Coincidance band members Eric Buddington on fiddle and Tony Pisano on accordion.
No need to bring a partner, come alone or bring your friends and kids. And if this dance is your first time, collect your coupon for free admission to your next dance.
Admission is $12, or $5 for students and $25 for families. Barters welcome (for example, helping with cleanup). Contributions to the snack potluck during the break are encouraged but must be nut-free.
The dance is presented by North Berkshire Community Dance, with the support of the Mass Cultural Council, Dance Flurry, and Country Dance and Song Society. For more information, visit www.northberkshiredance.org.
