The Ward 5 Neighborhood Planning Assembly ("NPA") is tasked with newly appointing a civic-minded volunteer to represent our neighborhoods on the Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG") Advisory Committee for a two-year term beginning in January 2020. Thank you to Sam Beall for your work in this role over the past two years.
The federal CDBG program is a revenue source for local communities to address the roots and consequences of poverty. The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development ("HUD") administers the program on a national basis and awards grants annually to entitlement communities, including Burlington. The City in turn awards grants to local organizations and operates several CDBG-funded programs.

The Ward 5 volunteer representative to the CDBG Advisory Committee, who must be a Ward 5 resident, is expected to:
* Attend all Committee meetings – potentially four meetings over a period of approximately three months, with the first meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 29, 2020
* Review grant applications and develop funding recommendations – usually around 15 applications, from local nonprofits and City departments
* Report back at a meeting of the Ward 5 NPA, at least once annually
