Sustainable Williston invites you to a presentation about Single-Use Plastics.
Thursday, January 16, 2020, 7:00 - 8:30 PM, at the Dorothy Alling Library, Williston.

Lead presenter Maggie Eaton will share her experience of working on the Vermont plastics campaign since March 2019, including the passage history of the Vermont House and Senate plastics bills and how the new legislation will be implemented. She will offer perspective on why this new law is so important - how plastics get into our environment, where they go and what they do to animals, us, and the natural world. Maggie will also offer suggestions on moving forward with tips on how to live without single use plastics.

Co-presenter Ethan Hausman will answer questions about plastics recycling in our community. He can explain what makes a particular plastic item recyclable, how to interpret the "resin codes" on plastics, and can help clarify your understanding of bio-plastics and compostables.

 Maggie's background includes PharmD and JD degrees, work experience as a health and hospital lawyer and ethicist, and a personal avocation in environmental projects. Maggie lives in New Haven VT. Before returning to VT, Maggie worked on a plastics ordinance in California.

 Ethan Hausman is CSWD's Business Outreach Coordinator.
