Please join us at the W. Townshend Country Store (WRCP) on Tuesday Jan. 7th at 6:30PM to hear a very interesting talk by Liz Johndrow and her nonprofit work in Latin America.
Since 2012, Liz Johndrow and the TERRA Collaborative (Pueblo Project) have partnered with local communities in Central America to offer hands-on workshops and training in the construction and renovation of homes and community buildings.
TERRA Collaborative's mission is to promote community resiliency, environmental regeneration, and social justice by providing hands-on training in natural building to women and others historically under-represented in the trades.
Using locally-sourced, low-carbon materials and capitalizing on traditional knowledge and skills, TERRA updates building with modern adaptations for improved safety and health.
The organization offers introductory and advanced hands-on trainings and community projects to provide points of entry for participants to expand their skills; improve their employment opportunities; and promote building techniques with a low environmental impact. By empowering participants to develop construction expertise and teaching/leadership skills, TERRA ensures that knowledge becomes rooted in the community. And by hosting fairs, making presentations, and networking at local, regional, and national levels, the group shares their expertise and vision for a resilient, sustainable future for communities and our natural environment.
Liz will join us for an evening to share stories about the work.
