Improv Workshop at Chandler

Past event
Jan 6, 2020, 6 to 9 PM

At Chandler our mission is to strengthen and energize our community, to deepen the cultural and artistic growth of youth, to offer opportunities for people to come together in celebration of the arts, to inspire and cultivate artistic expression and education in the performing and visual arts for people of all ages and incomes.

We definitely see our mission at work in our Summer Youth Musical Program each year as school gets out and our hall is filled with the excitement of young singers and actors. That program was born out of local adults wanting to bring musical theater to the Chandler stage.

Now we have a new way for adults to express and explore their creative side! We asked some local theater enthusiasts to come together to create a new community theater group, Just The Players, and we are happy to present a series of monthly workshops to prepare us for an exciting production of Macbeth in fall 2020.

On Monday, January 6th at 6 pm in the Upper Gallery, we are hosting an improv workshop led by the indomitable Tess Holbrook who currently runs The Chelsea Funnery. If your children have ever been a part of that program, you have probably been hoping there would be a similar opportunity for adults available. Now is your chance!

The workshops are open to all adults whether they be new to the stage or old hats! Have you been yearning to try your hand at acting? Do you have a secret desire to be a comic? Have you always wanted to delve into the deeper meaning of a Shakespearean play? Do you just want to work on being more comfortable in a crowd or wittier at a cocktail party? Our improv workshop is for you!

Come to Chandler on January 6th and give it a try. We ask that participants make a donation so that we can pay our teachers and keep the lights on. Interested parties do not need to commit to all the workshops, come to the ones that intrigue you. We will have the schedule of future workshops available and be working up to having auditions in the spring for our production of Macbeth in the fall. We can't wait to see you!
