Mt. Abe Grads Bring Our Community to the World - Thurs

Past event

Please join us as we bring in the new year with inspiration and wisdom from Lane Fisher, Martha Bruhl and Cora Funk.

Each year, Vermont schools send graduates out into the world. To learn how some of these young people are making their mark, the public is cordially invited to "Bringing Our Community to the World" a discussion with three Mount Abe graduates. This event is sponsored by One World Library Project. It is free and handicapped accessible.

The mission of One World Library Project is "to bring the world to our community," and to that end a small scholarship is offered each year to a graduating Mount Abe senior who is interested in broadening their knowledge and interest in world cultures as part of their college experience. In this program we offer a twist on this theme, featuring our scholarship recipients who have gone out into the world bringing values and gifts from our community.

The program will begin with a brief slide presentation and continue as an informal discussion. Community members will have the opportunity to ask questions as well.

Cora Funke is a freshman at Boston University majoring in Political Science and Envi-ronmental Analysis and Policy. She likes playing basketball, skiing, reading, and making pottery.

Martha Bruhl is a sophomore at the University of Vermont. She is majoring in Anthro-pology with minors in Environmental Studies and Health and Society. In her free time she loves to read, cook and travel.

Lane Fisher is an international affairs and French major at the George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington DC. She has followed her love of languages and cultures to France and Morocco, and has delved into policymaking and governmental work through internships at her congressman's office and with the US Department of State.
