Warm Up with a Hot Night at the Montpelier Contradance!

Past event
Dec 21, 2019, 8 to 11 PM

The next Montpelier Contra Dance at the Capital City Grange Hall will feature nationally known caller Lisa Greenleaf and wonderfully hot music by Dave Langford and Colin McCaffrey!

Lisa will be leading the newcomers session at about 7:45 PM, with her trademark good humor and community spirit. She'll teach and call enjoyable, social dances for everyone from 8:00 to 11:00. If you are new to this type of dancing, or would like a refresher on the basics, come on over for the intro session.

Lisa is known as one of the best callers at dances, festivals, dance-camps and weekends around the country. She will be calling this evening's dances using "gents" and "ladies" role terms.

Dave Langford on fiddle and Colin McCaffrey on guitar have delighted dancers at our series and others with their hot tunes which always swing. Their mix of traditional and jazzy tunes will keep you on your feet for all the dances!

Join us beforehand for the Grange Holiday Carol Sing-Along from 4:00 to 5:30 if you can; we'll also have a potluck dinner from 5:30 to 7:00 at the Grange Hall! Share your favorite dish, or bring something simple, and enjoy good food and friendly people.

Tips for dancers: bring clean shoes for dancing on one of the best dance floors in New England, or clean them up with our tools. Wear light, comfortable clothing. Bring a water bottle, or keep hydrated with our water fountains. Come by yourself and find dance partners in our inclusive group, and bring your friends along!

Capital City Grange Hall is at 6612 Rt. 12/Northfield St., just south of the I-89 overpass, 1 mile south of Montpelier.
