Please join the Universalist Unitarian Congregation of St. Johnsbury this Sunday at 10:30 am for our annual Solstice Service.
Winter Solstice has been celebrated in cultures the world over for thousands of years as the start of the solar year and a celebration of Light and the rebirth of the Sun. In old Europe, it was known as Yule, from the Norse, Jul, meaning wheel. Join us as we pause during these dark days to celebrate the rebirth of the sun! The living tradition UUs share draws from many customs and beliefs, such as the spiritual teaching of earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
The message this morning will be based on a quote by Terry Guillemets, a quotation anthologist: "The birds of hope are everywhere, listen to them sing." In a world where hope seems to be in short supply for far too many people, it is possible for us to find enough hope to keep us moving forward as the light all-too-slowly returns.
