Vermont Says No One is Above the Law Rally

Past event
Dec 17, 2019, 5:30 to 6:30 PM

On Tuesday, December 17 beginning at 5:30 p.m., the night before the U.S. House of Representatives votes to impeach Donald Trump for his high crimes and misdemeanors, activists will gather at Main Street Park in Rutland as part of the nationwide "Nobody Is Above the Law" rallies. The Impeachment Rally in Rutland will be one of the hundreds of actions occurring nationwide in more than 40 states and Washington, D.C.

The mobilization is part of a massive, grassroots effort to ensure Congress holds Donald Trump accountable for using military aid to pressure Ukraine to interfere in our 2020 elections. Protesters will demand that the House of Representatives fulfills its constitutional duty by impeaching Donald Trump and that the Senate remove him from office for attempting to rig the 2020 elections. Congress must show that no one—including the President—is above the law.

This is intended as a peaceful event where attendees will gather along both Main and West Streets at Main Street Park to hold signs and chant in support of impeachment as well as defending our Constitution, checks and balances in our government, the integrity of our elections, and accountability for the White House. We also want to express our appreciation to Vermont Congressman Peter Welch for supporting impeachment.

Activists will use #NotAboveTheLaw engage communities on social media. Information about other events can be found at Impeach.org. The link to the event in Rutland is at https://www.impeach.org/event/impeach-and-remove/125866/signup/?source=&akid=&zip=&s=.
