Wassailing at the Den This Thursday

Want to sing some good rollicking traditional songs of the season? In preparation for the Twelfth Night festivities on January 4, we will be singing some Wassailing songs at the Den in Cabot village this Thursday from 7:00!

For centuries in rural England, people have been going about in the darkest time of the year, singing songs for householders in exchange for a contribution to the "wassail" bowl of mulled cider and wine. We will have some wassailing on Twelfth Night, but figured it would be more fun if more people had a chance to get to know the songs a bit ahead of time, as they're unfamiliar to most Americans.

At The Den, you can indulge in some local beer or cider on tap, have a tasty non-alcoholic drink, or just come for the singing! We'll probably be there for about an hour, and we'll have handouts with the words and music for everyone. It should be a jolly time, so come and join us!
