St. Stephen's Church on the Green in Middlebury VT is offering its 3rd annual Festival of Lucia, a traditional Swedish Christmas festival named after St. Lucia who it has been said wore a crown of candles so she would have both hands free to bring more food to the Christians in the Roman catacombs. This year, Lucia wearing a crown of lights, and her attendants will welcome guests and sing Swedish Christmas carols as well as Christmas music from other Scandinavian countries. All are invited to this festive service and afterwards to enjoy Swedish Christmas delicacies in the parish hall. The festival features young members of St. Stephen's and members of the Londonderry Nordic Chorus. It is directed by Rustan Swenson accompanied by George Matthew Jr, organist of St. Stephen's and carillonneur of Middlebury College and Norwich University.
