THE DORSET PLAYERS PRESENT A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Dorset, VT – The Dorset Players will ring in the holiday season with Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol in a delightful version dramatized by Ray DeMattis and Players member William John Aupperlee. Performances at the Dorset Playhouse will run for two weekends beginning Friday, December 6.
The Dickens classic is now in rehearsal with a cast of twenty-four under the direction of Don Petersen, music director Lorri Bond and choreographer Kelly Gaiotti. Cheryl Gushee is the producer of the holiday show.
A Christmas Carol follows miserly Ebenezer Scrooge as he travels with ghostly guides through Christmas past, present and future to discover the true meaning of the holidays. The DeMattis-Aupperlee version of the classic holiday story was originally performed at the St. Bart's Playhouse in New York City.
Kevin O'Toole, a veteran of the Dorset stage, plays the key role of Scrooge. Also appearing in the show are Evan Cassan (Tiny Tim), Josh Bond (Bob Cratchit), Kristin Kimball (Mrs. Cratchit), and Skip Dickinson (Bob Marley) among other children and adult performers from throughout the region.
Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, December 6 -7 and 13 – 14, and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 and 15. Tickets are $18 for adults (members $15) and $8 for ages 6 to 14. Children ages 5 and younger are admitted free with a ticketed adult.

During the run of A Christmas Carol, the Players will be sponsoring a voluntary holiday food drive benefitting the Community Food Cupboard. The Food Cupboard, located in Manchester, serves 15 regional towns. Donations of dry and canned goods and personal care products are especially appreciated and may be dropped off in the Playhouse Cafe before or after the performance.
The Dorset Players, Inc., owner of the historic Dorset Playhouse, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit member organization that offers stage entertainment from October to May. Its mission is to foster the arts in the community through theatrical presentations and to provide growth and educational opportunities for children and adults through a variety of theatrical experiences.
