Northern Vermont University-Johnson is pleased to announce the end of semester concert presented by the NVU World Music Class and Concert Band.
Friday, December 6, 2019 at 7:00pm in the Dibden Center for the Arts on the Johnson campus.
The 23 students in the Worlds of Music class will present pieces from Japan, Java, Macedonia and West Africa including music played on mbiras (thumb pianos from Africa) and Japanese kotos that they built. They will also sing and play on a Javanese Gamelan Orchestra.
The NVU Concert Band, made up of almost 50 students and community members will perform music by 21 century composers influenced by the music of Spain, Albania, Eastern Europe, Australia, the southern US, Latin America and…whales in the sea!
Admission is $5, free for the NVU community.
