Celebrate the New Year by Counting Birds!

Past event
Jan 1, 2020, 7 AM to 4 PM

For 24 years, eager local bird watchers have spent New Year's Day identifying and counting the hardy winter birds they see. Sponsored by NEK Audubon, this annual count contributes to vital environmental data throughout the western hemisphere. It is true citizen science. We cover specific parts of Danville, Peacham, Barnet, St. Johnsbury, Waterford, Monroe, Lyman, and Littleton. Participants may spend the day, or a part of it, in the woods, fields, and villages, or you may keep track of what comes to your bird feeders on that day. This count usually produces about 40 species and several thousand individual birds. Interested? Register by emailing Charlie Browne at ccbrowne63@gmail.com before December 21.
