Talk: Understanding Biodiversity on a Changing Planet

Join Sterling students and faculty for this fascinating talk, "Understanding Biodiversity on a Changing Planet Through Ants," presented by ecologist Dr. Nathan Sanders on Tuesday, December 3 at 6:15 p.m. in the 1958 Room.

Dr. Sanders grew up running around in the field and forests of the Ozark Mountains as a kid, then graduated to the Rocky Mountains in college, and now works in the Green Mountains in Vermont. But, everywhere he's been, there were ants (just like everywhere you've been, there were ants). He's a global change ecologist/myrmecologist who is interested in all dimensions of biodiversity.

In this talk, Nate will focus on how an ecologist interested in the little things that run the world - the ants - respond to variation in climate and climate change. The talk will touch on the reasons why ants are so amazing, but will also examine the ways in which we can understand biodiversity on a changing planet.

The talk is free and open to the public. It will be held in the 1958 Room, Simpson Hall, Sterling College, 1322 N. Craftsbury Rd. Craftsbury Common.
