Planning for Emerald Ash Borer in Your Neighborhood

Past event
Dec 4, 2019, 6 to 7 PM

The Town of Milton is working on developing a plan for the emerald ash borer in our community. The emerald ash borer (EAB) is an invasive beetle whose larvae feeds upon the inner bark of ash trees. In doing so, the ash tree is unable to transport water and nutrients, eventually resulting in the death of the tree. EAB is responsible for killing hundreds of millions of ash trees across the U.S. – the dead trees pose a public safety threat in populated areas, in addition to costing homeowners and municipalities for their treatment, removal, or replacement. Unfortunately, EAB has been detected in multiple counties in Vermont, necessitating planning for its eventual arrival in Milton.

The town will be hosting a planning session on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the municipal building's (43 Bombardier Road) community room to determine the future of our community's ash trees. This planning session will inform a recommendation to the Selectboard about our community's preferences for treatment, removal, and replacement of the Milton's ash trees on public property.

We hope to see you there!
