Write for Rights is Amnesty International's largest annual human rights campaign. It is held throughout the world during the fall around the time when Human Rights Day is recognized. The best thing about Write for Rights is that it works!
We write letters to stand in solidarity with and to free human rights defenders across the world, and to shine a light on human rights abuses.
This year's 10 cases represent youth who are all under the age of 26. We write letters to government officials responsible for the cases. In some cases we send notes of solidarity to the individual person, or to the family of the person we're trying to help. The millions of letters are sent to specific officials to let them know we are watching and expect the unconditional release of their prisoners of conscience. We've helped to free many prisoners of conscience.
Come and help change or save a life.
