Presentation by Jon Kim at the Woodbury Community Library. Many people think that aquifers are continuous underground bodies of groundwater that are easy to find and delineate. However, a great deal of effort must go into characterizing or "mapping" aquifers to understand groundwater quantity or quality issues, which can occur in unconsolidated surficial material and/or bedrock aquifers. The purpose of this talk is to describe some of the aquifer characterization projects that the Vermont Geological Survey and partners have worked on statewide and in the general Woodbury area to understand groundwater quantity and quality issues.
