On Wednesday November 20 at 7:00 PM the Burke Mountain Club presents Bob Amos in a program entitled "Genealogy and Genetics: How DNA can help you with your family tree". Bob will give a summary of modern genealogical research and demonstrate how the recent availability of DNA tests has changed and added to the field of genealogy. Various types of DNA tests will be described, and two case studies will be presented to show how these different types of genetic tests can be useful when combined with conventional genealogical research.
Bob Amos is well known in our area as a musician and songwriter, but for the past 25 years he has also been conducting professional level genealogical research on his own family history as well as helping others to unravel theirs. In his own family tree Bob has discovered three Mayflower lines, multiple veterans of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, as well as a family member who was a neighbor and friend of Harriet Tubman in her later years.
The Burke Mountain Club is located at 368 Vermont Route 114, in the center of East Burke Village.
