Ever Considered Volunteering for AARP Foundation's Tax-Aide program? Welcome!!
Learn about this AARP Foundation-sponsored program at a Volunteer Information meeting on Monday December 9, 12:00 to 3:00 PM at the Montpelier Senior Activities Center, 58 Barre Street. You don't have to be a tax expert, although tax return preparation is what we do, primarily for those over 50 or those with low to moderate incomes. If you are reasonably comfortable with numbers and internet use, you could enjoy being a Return Preparer. Other roles include Quality Review of the prepared returns with the client, Client Facilitator to welcome waiting clients and help with their intake questionnaire, or leadership or administration positions to assist with scheduling, volunteer training, and site coordination.
This is a great way to use skills you may have acquired over the years, to learn new ones, to serve your neighbors, particularly older and lower-income folks, and become part of a team of congenial and dedicated volunteers.
Central Vermont sites include the Montpelier, Twin Valley, Waterbury, Northfield, Randolph, and Barre Senior Centers. Extensive training and support services are provided jointly by the IRS and the AARP Foundation. Please join us, or contact me via email. I'd be happy to give you a call if you have questions.
