Join us for a memorable Victorian Holiday Full High Tea at 142 Eastern. High Tea is a favorite activity across generations. Take a moment during the town-wide annual tradition Victorian Holiday Celebration to ring in the holiday season with your neighbors, friends, and family while sipping a steaming cup of a favorite blend and enjoying sweet and savory seasonal treats.

Enjoy a blissful experience dedicated to the ceremony of high tea and the elegant sounds of live holiday music played for your enjoyment on the harpsichord by St. Johnsbury native Leon Story. We are pulling out the china, linens, and silver for this intimate fête that unfolds within the glow of twinkling Holiday lights, ribbons, and evergreens. Our party tenderly encourages friendship amid unforgettable holiday moments of loveliness. If you please, come dressed in seasonal finery.

A variety of black and herbal teas will be paired holiday treats prepared by talented Chef Sarah Spence. Picture freshly baked holiday scones, home-made jam and clotted cream, and delicious tea sandwiches, followed by Petit-Four (miniature sweet treats).

Leon Story
Harpsichordist

Leon was born and raised in St. Johnsbury, and began his piano studies at eight years old with Edith Farrington. After college he studied harpsichord at the Longy School for one term, and has played violin and harpsichord for the Reading Symphony (Massachusetts), the Northeast Kingdom Community Orchestra, and the Newport Area Community Orchestra, as well as performing chamber music at Northwoods Stewardship Center and numerous church and school venues throughout northeastern Massachusetts and the NEK.

Sarah Spence
Chef

Sarah was raised on hearty New England fare made from scratch. A high school trip to Greece and Turkey inspired her to start exploring other cuisines and she has been doing that ever since. Sarah worked in restaurants in CT, MA and NH before settling in VT in 2003. Since then she has catered and worked at the Rabbit Hill Inn, Karme Choling and, most recently, Bread&Butter. She started her own pop-up vegetarian Indian food business in the Fall of 2019. She lives in St. Johnsbury with her family.
