You are invited to the next meeting of the Northeast Prevention Coalition on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 3 pm until 4 pm at the Vermont Department of Health located at 107 Eastern Ave. in St. Johnsbury.
Our guest speaker will be Matt Whalen. Matt is a Prevention Consultant with the State of Vermont's Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs. He began his career in public health by serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Albania, working on HIV/AIDS education and awareness. He later moved to Vermont and joined the community anti-drug coalition Essex CHIPS in Essex Junction. Currently, Matt serves central Vermont by organizing community efforts that include evidence-based prevention practices, supporting state grantees, and providing education on current and emerging issues.
Matt will speak about the Greater Barre Safe Sharps Alliance, a sharps disposal project that the Northeast Prevention Coalition is considering for our service area. Here is the link to the Community Tool Kit that was developed by the Alliance.
