The Norwich University Writers Series welcomes authors Pamela MacPherson and Rachel Lindsay to campus at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21st, 2019, in the Kreitzberg Library Todd Multipurpose Room. Free and open to the public.

Pamela MacPherson authored "Vigil: The Poetry of Presence" (2016) and has been a community advocate for end-of-life care for over three decades. She graduated from the Jeanne Mance School of Nursing and served as Hospice Volunteer Coordinator for the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle County (VNA) from 1988-2004.

Since retiring from VNA, she has continued to engage with issues related to quality end-of-life care and continued her two decades' involvement with VNA's Madison-Deane Initiative (MDI), which seeks, through educating the general public and healthcare professionals, to "change the face of dying."

Rachel Lindsay authored "RX: A Graphic Memoir" (2018), which was the featured book for US National Network of Libraries of Medicine's mental health month 2019, and was included on the American Association of Medical Colleges' 2019 Top 10 list of summer reads for "any student interested in pursuing a career in medicine." Lindsay also created "Rachel Lives Here Now," a comic strip about Vermont-centric themes. Her work has appeared in a variety of publications, including "The Maple Key Comics Anthology" and The New Yorker. Publishers Weekly praised "RX" for its "illuminated account of self-discovery." Alison Bechdel, author of "Fun Home," called it a powerful story with "gallows humor and graphic energy that vibrates off the page."

This Writers Series event is presented in conjunction with Norwich University's Interdisciplinary Course in Narrative Medicine and is co-sponsored by the Norwich University Writers Series, College of Liberal Arts, Department of English and Communication, College of Professional Schools, School of Architecture and Art, and School of Nursing.
