The Seventeenth Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the area's seniors and their families will be held on Thanksgiving Day, November 28 , 2019 at the Waterbury Senior Center. The dinners are given at no charge as a way for the community to say 'Thank You' to its' seniors for helping to make our communities the caring and supportive places that they are.
Albert Caron, owner of Waterbury Service Center and chief organizer of the event, started this event in 2003 and it now has become a holiday tradition in Waterbury. The dinner begins at noon, and everyone over the age of 60 can bring up to four family members who will also receive dinners at no charge.
There will be rides available to pick up those who are unable to drive to the Center. In addition, dinners will be delivered to seniors and their families who are unable to come to the Center for the meal.
Reservations for the dinners, take-outs, or to schedule a ride should be made by calling the Waterbury Senior Center at 244-1234 and asking for Jodi. All requests must be received by Monday November 25th.
All time to prepare the meal, cook, serve the food, decorate the dining room, and cleanup is done by volunteers. Most of the food is donated by local businesses. Businesses and individuals that would like to donate either money for gifts or unwrapped gifts for seniors may call Albert Caron at 244-7202 or Marge Gulyas at 802-793-0879.
