Bennington Goes to War

0ldcastle Theatre is presenting Bennington Goes to War, a play that recognizes a number of Bennington's World War I participants. The play takes place this coming Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25.00, but veterans can go free.

Bob Tegart, the president-elect of the Bennington Historical Society, carried out the research on Bennington's World War I veterans, and Eric Peterson, artistic director of 0ldcastle Theatre, wrote the play. Tegart has compiled a list of over 100 Bennington residents who were in the War, and he invites people seeking information about them to talk to him after the play.

Matt Edwards, pianist for the Bennington County Choral Society, teacher at Mt. Anthony Union Middle School, and choir director at the Second Congregational Church is the play's musical director.

Among those veterans included in the play will be the Bennington veterans William Beecher, Irving Bent, Charles Clark, Charles Crathern, Burton Cross, three Larin brothers, and George 0sterle.
