The Kurdish project is a new form of social organization based on feminism, ecology, and multi-ethnicity. It has gotten much media attention over the past month, as the US pulled out of Northern Syria, paving the way for a Turkish invasion. Since then, Turkey, the US, and Russia have negotiated away a large part of traditional Kurdish land, without their participation. Despite the announcement of a "ceasefire", bombing and attacks by the Turkish army and their allies have continued on a daily basis. As recently as November 3rd, an ambulance was shelled, killing a foreign medic. Over a few short weeks, hundreds have been killed, and over 300,000 displaced. The Kurdish Red Crescent is the primary provider of medical care and humanitarian aid in the area.
Join us at the Plainfield Community Center on Saturday, November 9th at 6 pm for a fundraiser to benefit the Kurdish Red Crescent. We'll have dinner with meat and vegetarian options, and an informative film screening about the Kurdish project, followed by a discussion. Suggested donation $10-30.
