Burnham Music Series will present The Vermont Bluegrass Pioneers, with special guest, Sam Blagden, on Saturday, November 9th at 7:30 PM. The VT Bluegrass Pioneers is an exciting new band that unites the talents of four of Vermont's veteran and best-known bluegrass musicians: brothers "Banjo" Dan and Willy Lindner – co-founders of the prolific and well-traveled Banjo Dan & the Midnite Plowboys, along with Sam Blagden, and Danny Coane, from Vermont's nationally award-winning honky tonk heroes, the Starline Rhythm Boys. Rooted in the hard-driving tradition of first-generation bluegrass, the three share lead and harmony vocals, and in a unique twist Dan and Danny, both of whom are commanding banjo players, alternate on that instrument and rhythm guitar, while Willy holds forth on mandolin and Sam joins in on bass. As performers, the VT Bluegrass Pioneers "leave it all on the field" – or in this case, the stage. Decades in the making, this new band is an idea whose time has come.
