Hazen Union Drama Club - Once upon a Mattress

Past event
Nov 23, 2019, 2 to 4 PM

Coming to the Highland Center for the Arts:
Based upon the famous fairy tale The Princess and the Pea, Once Upon a Mattress tells the story of a Princess of noble birth, unable to sleep on a bed despite its many stacked mattresses, because of a tiny pea placed underneath the bottom layer. The kingdom is an unhappy one. King Sextimus has been struck dumb by a witch’s curse and is condemned not to speak again; Queen Agravia has assumed power and has decreed that no one in the Kingdom may wed until Prince Dauntless is married to a true princess of royal blood. So far the Queen has tested the eligibility of eleven applicants and each has failed the almost impossible tests the Queen has devised. The Knights and Ladies of the Court are most distressed by the situation but the most concerned are Lady Larken and her handsome lover, Sir Harry. A rollicking tale of challenge and deceit unfolds to the final curtain, where, in true fairy tale form, all’s well that ends well.
Tickets are $12, Seniors and Students $8.
