Black Elk, Lakota Sioux Candidate for Sainthood

Black Elk, an Oglala of the Lakota Sioux, survivor of the Battle of Little Big Horn and the massacre at Wounded Knee, became a Catholic in 1904. In 2017 the Vatican authorized his cause for canonization as a saint in the Catholic Church. The presenter, Dr. Damian Costello is a vice-postulator (advocate) of Black Elk's cause for his canonization, and author of Black Elk: Colonialism and Lakota Catholicism.
