Vermont Suffrage Centennial Alliance kicks off the centennial celebration of the 19th Amendment with a presentation by Professor Amy Morsman, Moments of Reckoning in the Campaign for Women's Voting Rights on Sunday, November 3rd at 4:30 p.m. This FREE presentation and discussion takes place in The Classroom on the second floor of Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center, 60 Lake Street, in Burlington.

Middlebury College Professor of History Amy Morsman wil explore the complex perspectives and attitudes within the woman suffrage movement, showcasing points of convergence as well as moments of discord, when identity shaped suffragists' decisions about priorities, privilege, and the way to win the vote.

Professor Morsman's work focuses on the historical evolution of gender roles, race relations, and regional differences. She recently curated the "Votes...for Women?" exhibit at the College's Museum of Art, with vintage photographs, banners, and memorabilia, which she'll share, along with stories of people who led, followed, and even opposed women's right to vote.

This event is one of many to commemorate next year's 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution presented by the Alliance, a statewide group of volunteers lead by the League of Women Voters.
