Want to celebrate with the family but not a big fan of Halloween? Consider going to Burlington on Friday night for a concert to benefit Salvation Farms and a healthy food system in VT.
The original Farm Aid concert was a benefit concert for family farmers in the midwest in 1985. This updated local version, called Salvation Farms Aid, takes place Friday, Nov. 1 at ArtsRiot on Pine Street in Burlington.
Music will feature Vermont musicians covering the music of past Farm Aid performers:
Marie Claire performing Bonnie Raitt
Bill Mullins Band performing The Kinks
Seth Yacovone performing Neil Young
John Fusco with the X-Road Riders performing John Mellencamp
Blues for Breakfast performing Bob Dylan
The event will benefit Salvation Farms, a non-profit that works with farmers and others to move wholesome crops that have no market to those in need of nourishment.
Doors open at 7:00. Music starts at 8:00. A $20, all ages show. Fabulous sponsors are Vermont Coffee Company, Ben & Jerry's, & WIZN.
