Rachel Grigorian, Landscape Architect and owner of Clark Brook Designs, will show examples of her local projects that are making a positive impact on water quality through plants. Vermont has always been a wet state and water is impossible to avoid, especially when we've built into the sides of saturated mountain slopes and floodplains. It's time for a radical change in the way we design our properties and they way we manage our rainfall and waterways. Stormwater management is highly important on both a residential and commercial level. A key feature to slowing, cleaning, and absorbing the stormwater runoff is the enhanced role of plants in the landscape and the overall landscape design. In this lecture, we'll talk about the ways in which you as a homeowner, municipal worker, or business owner can work with, rather than against, the stormwater in your area and how your efforts will leave a lasting, positive impact on the ecosystems you are a part of.
Rachel lives in Granville, VT and founded Clark Brook Designs.
