Ferrisburgh Historical Society
Date: Wednesday, April 9
Time: 7 PM
Place: Ferrisburgh Town Hall/ Community Center
Speaker: Silas Towler. Silas will follow threads of local history that lead from an 1842 account book from Kimball Cushman Store. This store was formerly the Rogers Barnum Store and stood on the green in Ferrisburgh. Destroyed by fire in the 1920's , the store was originally started by Henry Rodgers, a central figure in Ferrisburgh history. 1842 was before the railroad arrived in this area so all the goods and products that were not produced locally arrived by canal boat. Barter was prevalent. The variety of goods was large and varied. This is the second program based on these ledgers. There is so much information gleaned from these records. All are welcome. Free.
